Near crash, Mira meeting & BBQ

Yesterday I had an appointment at Mira in Ste-Madeleine with Happy. I left 1h30 before time to not have to rush. I was on the 25 South, nearing the Tunnel. There was construction (speed limit lower than usual). I was in the left lane, passing a big truck in the right lane. Some dude was on my ass, really close behind me, wanting me to go quicker.

He lost patience and decided to pass me using the right lane. But somehow there was not enough space for him to do the maneuver. He ended up in front of me swerving like hell. I had to brake from 80km/h to 0km/h in a few seconds. Man! I was scared my car wouldn’t brake on time and I’d end up in the dude’s car! He did a 180° and crashed in the big cones on the right side of the road.

I was kind of in shock. Shaking. Not believing what the dumb ass just did. The trucker I was passing also stopped his truck. And traffic behind us was halted. The dude got out of his car. He was ok. He walked towards my car. I rolled down my window to talk to him. He looked at me with fiery eyes. He screamed “And you’re a #&#$^$&@ @*@*@& girl too!” and walked back to his car. I didn’t know what to do. None of this was my fault! Still I felt bad! The trucker made signs to me that it was ok, that I should just go. We both went on. And traffic behind us too.

I find people don’t leave enough space between cars when driving in Montreal! I do! But more often it’s 2-3 cars tailing each other, with not more than a meter space between them. What happens if something goes wrong with the car in front of you… You’ve got absolutely no reaction time to do anything!

Happy slept through all of that near-accident. My meeting at Mira went well. Poly, Miko, Sweety and Happy worked together at a nearby mall. We had to do exercises to see how the dogs walk/react to stuff. Happy did well! Her brother Sweety (weird name for a male dog!) had to wear a chocker from now on because he pulls too much. Happy not!

Back home at around 17h15. And a few minutes later my guests started arriving! I’d invited 4 people over for a BBQ: Shan, Dave, Debbie and her boyfriend. I think it was a success! I enjoyed having people sitting with me around my tiny table to share a meal!
