A while ago I dogsat Polo, a colleague’s big dog. He didn’t care about me much… Choosing a spot to lay and staying there, getting up to drink/eat when he felt like it.
One thing I like about Happy is that she always wants to be with me. When I take a bath she lays in the bathroom, I’m cooking she lays on the kitchen floor, when I’m at the computer she lays near the desk, at night she lays next to my bed, etc. I think it comes from her childhood as a Mira dog, accompanying me everywhere all the time. It’s neat, I like a dog like that, a real “man’s best friend!”
Tonight I went to watch a movie at J.’s. She has a huuuuuuuge flatscreen tv with home theater and comfy chair/couch. It was almost like being at the cinema. Which was nice for Blanc-Sablon!
My video application for Queensland’s best job in the world is finally online…! View it here and vote me a 5 stars! Then cross your fingers the selection committee will pick me and I’ll get it… Though I highly doubt it, there are so many videos there, and so many good ones! Oh well, can’t get anything if you don’t try!
Shopping day!
I haven’t shopped/ordered anything for a while, so today I treated myself!
I bought some nice L’Occitane products: verbena fizzy bath salts, lavendar normal bath salts, nice big verbena soap and revitalizing shower gel.
I also bought a new kit for in the bathroom from Sears. I’ve had the same white plastic ones for years, mom had bought them when I went to CEGEP. And I’m tired of them!
So now I have to wait for the parcels to arrive…
Today I’m going 45 minutes away from my usual work place, to St-Paul’s River. I’ll work there at the Clinic and later a meeting at the school. Thing is, when I am away from home for a whole day, I don’t like being hungry… So I prepared a nice lunch to bring! YEAH!
Main:
-Chinese chicken macaroni noodles
-Piece of chicken pie
Extras/snacks:
-2 juices
-1 Yoplait
-Crackers and Philadelphia cheese
-2 apples and 2 snack size pieces of cheese
-Piece of lemon pie
-A small chocolate
Lots of different snacks to keep eating all day long so I don’t become hungry.
A one person party on a Winter Saturday evening/night.

Well actually, one and a half person party. There’s also Happy. And she’s in a great party mood!

For a couple of weeks I’ve been listening to my iPod on shuffle only. It’s been tough! Some days I wanted to listen to something in particular but I sticked to the shuffle. I wanted to see how far I’d get in my collection. Well tonight I stopped everything! Enough of the nutty shuffle mix, from soft piano to NIN for example! And I needed to make a selection for my one person party! So yep… It stopped at 1554.

I never really noticed how much bags of food Happy ate, because I got her food free from Mira’s. Every time we’d go for a meeting, they’d send us home with a huuuuuuuuuge bag of Eukanuba food. So I thought I’d keep track of it now, since I’m the one buying it now that Happy’s my dog!
On December 20th I bought a 18,14kg bag of Iams large breed food (the only brand they had a big bag of) for 47.99$+tx, so 55.19$. Today, about a month later, January 24th, the bag is empty. She doesn’t eat much, I’d say around 3 cups a day (sometimes 4 cups if she’s super hungry). But most of the time she doesn’t even empty her bowl!
I wonder how long it will take to empty the new bag I just bought!
Last night was the season premiere of Lost. Except here it was on a bit late, from 22h to 0h… So I recorded it. And I started watching it at lunch. I saw this on someone’s blog, so I thought I’d give it a try… Turns out I’m Jack! Smart, resourceful, good-looking and a bit nuts…
Find out which Lost character you are!
I think this is the quilt I want to make next… For a baby boy… Except I’m not sure if it’s too much or if it fits right… I like it, but others have to like it too if I am going to sell it! So yea… The red toned rectangles are designer fabric, the green rectangles + 2 lines of blue one are Japanese fabrics and the blue rectangles are cheaper fabric.

A while ago I wrote an email to the lady I’m replacing at work. She’s on maternity leave. And I was wondering when she was coming back. Yesterday I heard back.
Basically she told me that she didn’t know yet. She will have more news mid-February. It may be in April (if things don’t go her way where she is now), but she’d rather come back in September (if all goes well). But she did say she wanted to come back, didn’t hint at leaving her post (so that I can apply on it).
So I guess it means I’m coming back to Montreal soon!
Well… Since last week when it was extremely cold, my car’s battery was being rebellious… I had to ask twice for someone to come boost it. And then I realized it was not doing any better when I tried to start it on its own, so I decided it was time to bring it to the garage!
So yesterday in the storm my mom’s boyfriend brought the darn thing to the garage. This morning they changed the battery. At lunch I got a lift to go get my car back with a colleague who was going home to eat. (But the garage is closed during lunch so I had to go back at 13h to pay them the 156$ I owed).
I got home with my new battery/car. I try to go inside the house… But the darn door handle is frozen and won’t turn. And this morning I had decided it wasn’t too cold anymore so I took the handy hair dryer tool out of my purse. So I didn’t have anything to unfreeze the handle anymore! Well I did have unfreezing liquid but I put a lot in and it didn’t change a thing so that seems to be useless! So I went to my friendly neighbours’ house and asked them to borrow their blow dryer, went back home, unfroze the handle, grabbed Happy, walked back to the neighbours’ house being dragged by a overly excited dog, gave them back the blow dryer and finally came home to eat and by now I was truly starving. Plus I had a headache all morning. And despite Advil Liquigel+Tylenol combo it wouldn’t go away.
Oh and I keep getting electric shocs at work when I touch my office’s door handle. It’s sooooo annoying!
So yep. Not my favourite of days.
Hopefully tomorrow will go better.
Today is the first day in a while it’s not -40 something (including windchill)… It’s sunny, about -20 and barely no wind. So perfect time to finally go outside and enjoy it!
J. called me to know if I’d like to go snowshoeing while she went cross country skiing. So yep, Happy, J. and I went at the Brador East trail.
Happy had a blast, running to J. who was in front in the trail and me in the back, for about 1h30! I was very well dressed. Mid-way through I took off a layer (my Kanuk coat, kept my polar fleece on) because when you’re moving it gets very warm!!! I liked the bit of woody area, very pretty with last night’s snow on the branches.

It’s a bit too cold to play outside for Happy. With this -45°C cold (including windchill) I only take her out for her business and a short walk a couple of times a day… But I know she’s itching to run free! Soon she will, when the weather gets a bit milder. So in the meantime she found a new favourite spot to watch outside, sitting on the couch resting her head…

Some things would just be easier in the city. Sure, here I have a réseau. But always asking that réseau for favors sucks because half the time they don’t want/can’t.
My car is dead. In the city, if I had a car, I’d have a CAA membership and I’d call them to come boost me. Here I asked mom yesterday if she could come today, and I just called and now she’s saying she doesn’t want to come. Last time I phoned J.&M. for a boost, so I can’t phone them again!
Happy needs a dogsitter (when I travel for work for example). In the city I’d have a dog-walker/bring her to a dog-daycare. Here I have to ask mom and feel like a burden because they don’t really like having the dog at their house.
So city = pay for services, but get them. Here = rely on others for services, free, but not always available.
And this morning, I’d rather pay.
More happened today!
Last night apparently we had a power outage on our street. My neighbour said she saw the Hydro-Quebec truck fixing something in the electricity line at 2h.
So this morning the phone rings. It’s the neighbour! She tells me good morning, and to wake up because it’s quarter to 8h! Oh oh! My alarm didn’t work because of the power outage.
So I got up and got ready for work. When I turned the tele on and I noticed the image was extra dark and red-toned. I thought it was the cable company having problems again.
It’s only later on during the day, when my neighbour told me her tele wasn’t working properly and another neighbour on the street his tele was totally dead, that it clicked! My dark-red image TV was damaged from the power outage!!
So in the afternoon I wrote a quick note to the responsible of my house at work. I didn’t hear anything back, so I thought I’d just spend the weekend watching red people on the tele. But when I got home I had a brand new tele for me waiting in a gigantic box! YAY! That’s service!
So I lifted the HEAVY old one carefully and put it on the ground. There was no where to grip your hand!!!

I then placed the new one instead. And this one has “handles” on the side which makes it easier to lift. Yay! They are similar… But the new one is wider because the speakers are on the sides.

Edit: Vanou’s idea is a good one, except the dog thing happened before the tele thing, so it’s impossible.
