"Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz," the sound of my ears buzzing after tonight's silverchair gig! I arrived at the Spectrum around 17h30 and lined up until they let us in at 19h. I found a perfect spot, sitting, first row, top. YEAH! Then waiting... Waiting... The opening band reminded me of a young crappier ACDC, We Are The Fury were their name. Thankfully their set was short enough... Then at the break I went to buy merch. I usually NEVER buy anything at gigs. But this time I couldn't help myself. I bought a tour shirt and a poster. At around 21h15 silverchair came on stage! The guys seemed to be in a very good mood, smiling a lot at each other. Dan used his little French, saying "merci beaucoup" a lot and doing the countdown "un deux trois quatre" to a song. My highlight definitely was Emotion Sickness. Wow. It brought tears to my eyes. Then I also really liked Straight Lines. And also Freak in the encore. Speaking of the encore... It was a sucky one! A single song (Freak)! Lights went on in the venue, boring loungy music started playing and techs came on stage to take everything apart. The crowd chanted and clapped for a second encore. We wanted more! But nope... And it was just 22h20! They played barely over an hour! That's my only negative point. It was nice to see silverchair in my city! No traveling to far and away Toronto. Nope! silverchair in Montreal rulz! Some pics... A video...
-Someone passing by my balcony as I'm watering my flowers saying "Il est beau ton balcon!" -Preparing strawberry jam jars for this Winter, thinking how yummy it'll be on toast. -Thinking about tomorrow's silverchair gig! Three times seeing them in one year, awesome! -Petting Happy, her fur so soft after yesterday's bath. -Eating watermelon.
This arvo I went shopping downtown. Shopping isn't easy for Happy, she's a real vacuum cleaner, going from one side to the other, nose down, trying to find stuff to eat! And I have to correct her each time she tries! So when we come back home we're both exhausted! I went with the idea of buying a new pair of shoes. Shoes that would be comfortable. Chic but also casual. And most of all waterproof! I hate getting my feet wet when it rains outside! And I only have Winter waterproof boots. So I found a pair I really liked, Ecco shoes, but in brown! I left my name and number at the store, they are supposed to call me when the black ones come in! I also bought a new pair of jeans! Dark blue, Roxy. I like them!
It's not often since the beginning of the Summer that I've had days off... And more than one in a row. This weekend I have Saturday/Sunday/Monday off! And it's strange. I'm home. I did stuff all day, like going to the market, bathing Happy, cleaning some of my shoes, napping... But still it feels empty. It's hard to just be home alone and do nothing. Yet I don't feel like going out to see people... Friends I haven't seen in a long time from back home are out tonight at La Tulipe, but naa... Too tired to go. At work it's neat because I am busy all the time with tons of people around me. Ah... I guess this feeling will pass. I just need to find something to do tomorrow... I was thinking either the pool or shoe shopping. And after tomorrow it's a silverchair gig! YAY!
Back from the doggy park with Happy, and this is what I look like! Note to self... Wait longer after a rainfall to go to the park. Happy went in the bathtub for a scrub. I showered and changed into nice fresh clothes. All is good in the end.
I slept REALLY well from 21h30 to 7h this morning... And I would have slept longer, but I'd set my alarm to wake up on time! I reserved the Communauto car to go to the Jean-Talon market at 8h30. I went to get fresh strawberries to put in jars for this Winter. I missed the auto-cueillette season, so this was my second best option! I got 2 big containers of strawberries for 15$! Yay! I also passed by a fish stall and saw they had halibut! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I bought a steak for 18$. It's big enough to cut in two, one half for tonight, the second half frozen for another meal. My mom told me it was in the average prices for that sort of fish. Not cheap! But delicious! There were lots of shoppers at the market! And tons of nice fresh Quebec fruits and veggies! Then with the help of my cousin we brought my big/heavy/portable airco unit to her apartment. Now that mine works again, I've got no use for it. And she, with a little 4 and a half month baby, can really use it!
I'm exhausted with a headache. I'm going to bed really soon... In 15 minutes... At 21h30... On a Friday evening. Boring eh. This evening a little gray cat came to sit on my balcony for a rest. Happy didn't like it. She stared at the cat. She growled. She barked a bit. The cat was on her territory! I closed the curtains and Happy forgot all about the little visitor!
I finished work at 23h30 tonight, and just got home at 00h10. I am so happy to be home. The airco at work broke tonight!!! It's so funny how once mine was fixed, the one at work blew! We tried resetting the breaker, but it just won't stay on, it turns back to off. So we decided not to try more and wait until some experts can fix it tomorrow hopefully! At the metro station on my way home, I was walking towards the tourniquets. I see a man inside the metro's barrier walking by another that's just standing there on the outside innocently. He handed him something. I thought it was a drug deal or something! But nope! The thing he handed was green, just like this month's Just For Laughs themed metro monthly pass! And then the dude walked towards the tourniquet... And presumably joined his friend inside! Using one pass for two people... Sneaky! My downstairs neighbour is dogsitting... A scary big dog, caramel/light brown coloured, with ears that spike up. Anyways... This dog has been mostly outside, tied to the balcony with a tiny rope, for the past few days. Yesterday in 30+ heat he didn't even have water!! I gave him some with a bit of Happy's food. Tonight I get home and the dog is there, barking, trying to look inside the apartment. The neighbour has a few furry cats. Maybe that's why he doesn't want the dog inside. But still! If you're going to dogsit, take your responsibilities! Don't leave the dog tied up outside alone without anything!! It just breaks my heart.
Last night I watched the fireworks on my rooftop terrace. It's neat! Even though I could only see the ones that were high in the sky (about 60%). I also did some light painting! My apart is at a cooler 26°C this morning! Yay! Much more fun to be at home...! Today my aunt and grandma are flying to Blanc-Sablon for a holiday at my mom's! I envy them.
I left work early at 14h, right in the middle of the team meeting, to be home by 15h. The airco repair dude said he'd come by between 15h and 17h. At home I waited... Waited... In the heat... I wanted to go to the pool... Or shop (airco in shopping malls)... But I stayed home and watched a movie, Music and Lyrics (it was cute). Finally at 17h the dude called. "I'll be there in 30 minutes," he said. Ok... I decided to sit in the sun on my balcony. Why stay in the apartment in the extreme heat while I can sit out on my balcony in the extreme heat and sun to do some people watching! The dude finally arrived! He and his helper had to take out the whole unit! They worked and worked on that giant puzzle, trying to replace this piece... Which usually looks more like a 'squirrel wheel', rather than being curved/no space between each slide like my broken one... And now I've got cold air! IT'S FIXED! CELEBRATION TIME! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
"Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!" I check the time on the telephone, it's 7h47. I get up from my bed like a zombie and go to the door's speaker phone. I say hello and ask who it is. "The police!" I ask if it's just to enter the building or to come to my apartment, "No mam, the apartment we're buzzing isn't answering, it's to enter." And I unlock the door. Through the patio door I see a police car, double-parked, wrong side in a one-way street, with the flashers on. I go back to bed for 13 minutes. It's good this happened on a morning where I had to get up early! I hate the sound of trucks/busses on the nearby busy street in the morning. It's so 'agressant'!
Tonight at work I made a delicious humongous lasagna for 15 people! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I hadn't made/eaten lasagna in so long!
Right now in my apartment it's 32°C. My airco has been broken for more than two months. Yesterday the repair dude called to schedule an appointment for tomorrow between 15h and 17h. I really really really hope he shows up and is able to finally fix the machine! It's too warm. I feel sick. And I can't eat, just drink. And I can't wait to go to work, where the airco does function!
"Woof!" I open my eyes and see Happy, the two front paws on the side of my bed, looking at me. It's her way to wake me up and say good morning! I turn over and reach for the telephone... What time is it... 9h30. Not so bad. Ok Happy, I'll get up. My cousin is supposed to call me this morning so that we go to the park, Happy and me, my cousin and her baby. I worked last night. It went well. In the afternoon I was asked by my supervisor if I wanted to be on the calling list for last-minute replacements in the Fall. I said it would be my pleasure! When I am at Uni, with 3 master's level classes, having a part-time job is hard for me! So this would be perfect, working once in a while, according to my availabilities. It also tells me they like my work if they want to keep me past my contract!
