So for Copenhagen I choose that Hotel Fox. Now I'm looking for one in Barcelona. There are so many!!!! I feel like chatting with my brother but when I called he wanted me to hang up. He just ordered a pizza. The restaurant was going to call him when it's ready to go pick it up. So he choose the pizza over me. I had to hang up. I'm just bored...
I'm pretty sure I'll spend a weekend in Copenhagen when I go to Europe. I've been looking at hostels/hotels. I found a really neat one called Hotel Fox. Artists have been commissioned to do each room in a special and different way. It is so neat!!! It's hard to choose which hotel to stay at...
I've just received 3 emails from the same person. He's really a pro spammer eh!
I just got back from the shops. When I went out it was so much rain that there were little rivers everywhere! It reminded me of the rain back in Sydney. Half way there came thunder, lightning and my pants/shoes were soaked. Was I going to make it??? I did make it. I bought a lot of yummy stuff. Which I now have to go unpack. And to think that yesterday squirrels were running around... Here's one. I wonder where squirrels hide when it's raining?
Just as I was about to head out to get a few things at the supermarket and mail a letter at the post office..... it started to rain. And heavily too! Great...!
This morning at about 11h UPS came by. I was well awake but still in my pjs. I wonder what the guy thought... 11h and still not dressed! But I mean I had nothing planned for the day so why not lazy around the appartment? However I am now happy to report that as of 13h30 I am now properly dressed. So... back to UPS! They delivered my plane ticket for Amsterdam! YAY!!!!!!!!!
Today I decided to go to a museum and take advantage of the Montreal Museum Day. Off I went to the Montréal Holocaust Memorial Centre. It was just a quick metro ride and a little walk away. Upon arrival the security guard asked to check my bag and proceeded to squishing it also squishing the two snack bars I had brought with me. Geez... Thanks! Then I waited in line for about 15 minutes before entering. The museum itseld is well made with many documents, stories, videos, etc. But it was so crowded that it was almost impossible to take time and look at any of it. I started off reading as much as I could but half way through I got tired of it all and just went out. I spent about 45 minutes inside the museum. And after that I was done with Museum's Day. I think I'd much rather pay on a normal day and really get the good experience of a museum rather than it being free and so crowded. Today I also booked my trip to Rock Werchter on Saturday & Sunday July 2&3! I'll get to see Rammstein (amongst other bands) on the Saturday!!!! I'm excited. I booked a youth hostel bed for that night (in Leuven, the city that's near Rock Werchter). The Sunday I'll spend visiting Leuven and then Antwerp before catching a train back to Amsterdam. All for about 180$ + food.
This morning at work I was the 5th to arrive out of 7 people. We waited a while in the break room to get our briefing and then went out for our assignment. We were checking baby & todler car seats to make sure they were properly attached. It was fun and went by quickly! At about 14h20 I was back home. I had a bite to eat and then headed out again... I took the metro to go to the Bell Centre to buy a Pearl Jam ticket. The concert is mid-september but tickets went on sale this morning at 10h. On the internet they cost 73,80$ and by going there (cost about 40 minutes total) I got my ticket for 64,50$. I saved 9,30$... Yay! Here are two photographs I took while I was waiting for the metro to arrive at Bonaventure station on my way back home... Tomorrow is Museum Day in Montreal. All museums are free. If I am not too tired I might go to a museum or two. I'll decide in the morning. There's also a Grand Prix tomorrow... Nick Heidfeld will be starting in front! How strange.
This morning I got up at 8h. At 9h15 I was out the door. First stop was to see the coordinator of my workplace to have him sign my new passport request. That was done within 10 minutes. At 10h I arrived at the passort office. After waiting 26 minutes I was able to get a number, A105, and sit and wait. At 11h47 my number finally came up. Total I waited 1h47. I was so fed up with waiting. Then it took 10 minutes and I was done. 1h47 waiting for 10 minutes at the counter!!!! I can go pick up my new passport on June 10. Can't wait to get it! They destroyed my old passort by cutting the corner and cancelled it with stamps... It feels strange to not have a passport. I feel like I'm really stuck in Canada. Then I went shopping for two frames for prints of my mom's whale picture. She wants to give them to friends as gifts. I found really nice looking frames and got a good deal on them too! At home I carefully packaged the frames for the long trip in the mail. I used bubblewrap to make the parcel. I just hope they don't get dammaged. Here are the framed photographs...
This post is untitled because I can't figure out a title. This morning I got up at 7h30 and went to work at 8h20. 10 minutes later I was there and got briefed. With my colleagues we walked to the place we'd be spending a couple of hours, a local school. It was quite simple... and most of all quick! We teached kids about riding a bike safely. At 10h30 I was back home. 2 hours of work. Paid for 4 hours. Then I went to the neighbourhood library and got books about different European cities. I am planning a couple of weekends away from Amsterdam to see a little more of Europe. I was lucky to find 2 brand new books, one about Belgium (may go to Rock Werchter music festival) and Denmark (may go to Copenhagen) plus an older book on Madrid. Yesterday I went to get a parcel at the post office. It was my Cafe Press stuff! I ordered a t-shirt and a journal. Here they are... I think it may be time to sort through my inbox/outbox. Tomorrow I'll do that. And I'll be sure to provide you with an after picture. But for now, this is the before... See how full they are! You may see in the top-right corner of the previous photograph there is a little white thing. It's my Milou (known as Snowy in English)! I got that in Brussels last year. I love Tintin and Milou. I even have Milou tattoo. So here's a closer look at the my favorite dog.
At 6h (a.m.) the phone rang. It was someone calling from the U.K. regarding my plane ticket for Amsterdam. I was still sleeping! Didn't realize it was only 6h until after I hung up. I went back to bed until 9h. Today I have to get passport photos made for a new passport. For Holland I read that the passport has to be valid at least 3 months after the planned departure date from the country and it's too tight... Mine expires right on the 3 month limit or one day before. So I'll have a new one made. I don't want to screw around with the law! I also have to go get a parcel at the post office but that's just possible after 13h.
At work yesterday I think I injured myself...! It's just a small thing. But it still hurts! I was opening the street barricade for a car that was allowed to go through and when I closed it... 2 of them fell! They scraped the front of my lower leg when falling. And now there's a bruise and a wound and it hurts a lot when I touch it. It'll be better in a couple of days. Still like my job too!
I'm hungry. There are a few things I could make to have a proper dinner. But who wants a proper dinner? My brain says it's important. That's how you stay healthy. But my heart says no! Give me chocolate fondue! What should I do?
It's official, I'm going to AMSTERDAM for a 6 weeks stay. I can't wait!!! Today I also managed to call the bank back home, travel to the other side of the Island of Montreal by metro to get tickets to the Grand Prix Open Pits day at some tire dealership (free) and got my ticket for the Montreal Coldplay gig in August. It's a good productive day!
